The city of Morehead seeks to tear down one of (if not THE) oldest buildings in town. These folk want to demolish the Old Freight Station calling it a eye sore. It was named in the news paper that councel can't understand why nobody wants the 7 million. I understand why even with my eighth grade edimucation. If it wasn't for that Freight Station then there most likely would have no Morehead to begin with. Many supplies of groceries, lumber, furnishings went thrue that building as it was the main source of freight transit in those days. How could we have built a city without supplies? How could business have survived without supplies? How would MSU have survived without supplies??? Now the city want's to tear down the most siginificate part of our heritage and turn it into a parking lot. LOL!!!!!!!!!!! I heard a "folklore?" story of a man who approached the bench of the court and made some kind of little speech. According to this story, the judge got up, rolled up his little marintime flag and gave the seat to another judge who presided over a common-law court. Seems that the little speech changed the jurisdiction from penal code law to common law. Is this possible? or is it only folklore? This was said to have taken place in Rowan County a long time ago.
I would not say that the story you told us is complete folklore but in todays time and under the new Unified Court System, I would guess that if the story is true, it would have taken place many, many years ago under the old magistrate court system that we were so cleverly conned into changeing. Any time a person makes a vote to change the constitution, the voter should study out the possible abuses of the amendment they vote in favor of. Allthough the ballot may read "Are you if favor of amending the KY constution to read (this or that)" a hidden agenda already in place to abuse the amendment in a way that the average can not comprehend nor ever expect. I dont think everyone is gone. Maybe buisy reading up on the interesting links here in between listening to talk radio on the tv. Hit counter shows plenty of visits.
